It is a historic and picturesque village in the Province of Perugia, perched on top of a hill at 441 metres above sea level. It owes its appearance to the medieval origins of which still retains all the structural and architectural features. The village’s architectural plan in concentric circles represents one of the most advanced systems of military defense to subsequent levels typical of the medieval era. Indeed this type of defensive structure allowed Panicale castle to withstand the frequent attacks it was subjected to.
Panicale is part of “The most beautiful villages in Italy” and it has been awarded the “Orange Flag”
